3D Printing
Some of our learning materials benefit from the use of a 3D printer. Most printers will be suitable for the tasks covered in ClassAct II however the following criteria will need to be met:
- Compatible with STL files (for tasks where sample files are provided)
- Able to print in a suitable material such as ABS plastic.
SETTINGS FOR PRINTING 3D MOLDS
The following settings are based on a Flashforge Dreamer 3D printer, you may need to adapt these settings slightly to suit your particular model.
General
- Layer height = 0.14 mm
- First layer height = 0.21 mm
- Base speed = 60 mm/s
- Extruder temperature = 230
- Platform temperature = 110
Perimeter (outside surface)
- Perimeters/shell count = 6
- Perimeter print speed = 50 % of base speed
Infill (filling inside object)
- Top solid layers = 6
- Bottom solid layers = 2
- Fill density = 50%
- Fill pattern = Hexagon
- Overlap perimeter = 70%
- Solid layer print speed = 50% of base speed
Advanced
- Extrusion ratio = 110%
