In April of 2020, “59% of lower-income families faced digital barriers” according to data from the Pew Research Center. As we approach the two-year anniversary of COVID in the US, and its effects on student learning, there has definitely been an improvement in the allocation of technology and access to home internet. Nevertheless, whether it’s having to share a laptop with other family members, only having a phone to log in on, data caps, or not having reliable internet, the digital divide continues to be a huge problem for schools and students.
